    Completed the Correlation between markers of renal function and sight-threatening diabetic retinopathy in type 2 diabetes: a longitudinal study in an Indian clinic population
    Regional Collaborating Centres of ICMR Young Diabetes Registry, Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF) have been able to include 29 Reporting centres from Chennai Metropolitan Area and we have registered 4519 young diabetes cases (those who had age at diagnosis below 25 years of age) by submitting their baseline proformas and 8110 follow up proformas (of 2175 patients) into the Registry software. (Project from 2006 to 2020). Successfully completed the Phase II of the ICMR- Young Diabetes Registry Project. (2006 to 2020)
  2020 Milestone achievement of the department is in translating the research outcomes from “bench to bedside”. Marking the beginning of precision diabetes era, started delivering on precision diagnostics, precision prognostics and precision treatment based on molecular etiology.
  2020 Successfully completed the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)–India Diabetes (INDIAB) study, one of the largest epidemiological studies on diabetes with a sample size of 1,20,000 representative individuals, covering every state of India. The study was conducted in phases from 2008 to 2020.

    MDRF was one of the centres to participate in the project titled "Harmonization of existing registries of diabetes in youth: A US India Collaborative Research Partnership" (2016-2019)
